News from our dental practice
Very honored patients!
With this page we would like to familiarize you with an interesting topic from practice.
After the successful integration of Dr. Maximilian H. Wenzl, who was involved with many new ideas in our practice, I started a new advanced training course in the field of periodontics in September 2016 and successfully completed this training in January 2017.
So this time periodontics ...
The latest state of the findings in the field of periodontics is as follows:
Diabetes and periodontitis
The severity of periodontitis is increased. The progress of periodontitis in diabetes is accelerated. The risk of periodontal disease is significantly dependent on the glycemic adjustment by the diabetologist. Successful periodontal treatment is also possible in diabetics. After a periodontitis treatment, the glyceric setting also improves.
Cardiovascular disease and periodontal disease
Weak or moderate association between periodontal and cardiovascular diseases, which are probably gender-dependent. The development of artheriosclerosis by periodontal microorganisms can be produced in animal experiments.
An improvement of the endothelial false function is possible by the periodontist therapy. It remains unclear whether a periodontitis treatment can be used to prevent myocardial infarction, a stroke or an arterial occlusive disease.
Premature babies / underweight of newborns and periodontitis
Strong connection between prematurity / underweight of newborns and periodontal disease. No clear evidence that periodontal therapy reduces the risk of prematurity. A non-surgical periodontitis treatment in the middle area of pregnancy is safe for the patient.
Rheumatic Arthitis and Periodontitis
A rheumatoid arthritis is more common in periodontal disease and vice versa. There is a causal relationship to each other. Rheumatoid arthritis is improved by periodontal therapy.
Obesity and periodontal disease
Clear evidence that obesity is associated with periodontal disease and tooth loss. No evidence exists that obesity affects periodontal healing. Common risk factors are not yet known.
Chronic inflammatory diseases and periodontitis
Strong correlation between chronic inflammatory diseases with oral defects, periodontal disease and tooth loss. Causes of the context little explored. Patients chron. (IBD) and oral complaints must be thoroughly investigated for periodontal defects.
Osteoporosis and periodontitis
Very strong correlation between oesteoporosis and periodontitis. Causality and direction of development are not yet fully known. Osteoporotic signs in the orthopantomogram.
Dementia, Parkinson''s disease and Alzkeimer disease and periodontal disease
Related to periodontitis plausible. Poor oral hygiene due to limited motor function. Mouth dryness, weight loss.
Best regards
